Embracing one another through Queer Tango is an act of resistance as we continue to fight fascism, racism, transphobia, xenophobia, and all the other bs!

Join Queer Dance Roanoke’s queer tango community in our spring season, embracing connection to one another and our practice of community care. We are thrilled to do this in partnership with the @roadiversity and to support their important presence in our city!

Queer Tango lessons will be co-facilitated by Malinda of QDR and @dance.with.lane We enthusiastically welcome beginners and returning queer tango dancers alike. Come learn the basics of Argentine tango, a dance rich with queer history and growing all over the world today.

No partner necessary! (But you can totally bring your bestie or crush, just make sure everyone registers in advance please! Link in bio :D )

Join us at the City Market Building for Big Lick Bachata Brunch on Sunday, April 6th! Instructors Lisa & Robert will provide a beginner-friendly lesson at 12pm, and DJ Perico will be playing a mix of salsa, bachata, kizomba, zouk, and merengue from until 4pm. Come hungry and check out Sticks & Spoons’ special brunch menu—you won’t want to miss this!

Entrance is at the front of the City Market Building on Campbell Ave. Cost is $5 at the door for dancers (cash or Venmo); free entry for those only ordering food downstairs. Kids aged 16 and under are welcome with free entry, but must be supervised at all times by an adult. The dance floor can be a dangerous place for small kids, and Big Lick Latin Underground is not liable for injuries.
New, seasoned, solo, and partnered dancers are all welcome! Come dance, socialize, eat, and get to know the Big Lick Latin dance community. We are dedicated to making this a safe space for everyone — *Please review the pinned Code of Conduct on our main page before attending.*

Please join us for an Urban Kiz and Kizomba social at Olde Salem Brewing in downtown Roanoke! We'll start with an urban kiz basics lesson for newcomers from 7:00p.m.-7:30p.m., a practica from 7:30p.m.-8p.m., and then have an open social dance floor until closing at 10pm. We'll play a mixed playlist of traditional kizomba, urban kiz, ghetto zouk and other great music to dance to. Hope to see you there! Let's celebrate with some OSBC beverages, some urban kiz, and friends!
